The hill station of Mussoorie lies at a height of 2005m on a Himalayan ridge, some 310kms north of Delhi, and was much favoured by the British as an escape from the summer heat on the plains. It is a town of contrasting old and new architecture, enlivened by the Tibetans who follow in the footsteps of the Dalai Lama. Cable car excursions, coach tours into the mountains and long treks to Tibetan temples can fill your days or simply relax and admire the spectacular scenery .
